Doug Blenkey

Retired (from paid employment) at the end of 2005 after a 37 year career in engineering and planning consultancy, the last 20 of these as a director of a large international company. Doug spent about 17 years working overseas in Hong Kong, Australia, Oman and Turkey, moving to Walsden in 1990 as the northern director for his employers, based in Manchester and managing both regional business and major projects. Most of his working life was devoted to the planning and design of transportation projects, including roads, buses, trams and conventional rail. He also has considerable experience in planning and design of infrastructure for new urban development and regeneration projects.
He is the Community Services chairman for Todmorden Rotary Club, of which he has been a member since 2002, and serves on the committee of the Northern Bernese Mountain Dog Club.
